Altrusa International of Licking County donated 25 books titled A Terrible Thing Happened by Margaret M. Holmes to Mark Weiner, Dir. Victim Services, Licking County Prosecutor’s Office, on 6/6/19. Our club donates Love Me Bears for children to hold after they’ve witnessed a traumatic event. In an effort to further help children who have witnessed any kind of violent or traumatic event, the club decided to give them a book that helps them deal with their feelings. The book is for children ages 4 – 8 and has an afterword for parents and caregivers which offers extensive suggestions for helping traumatized children, including a list of other sources that focus on specific events.
