Mission:  Altrusa International of Dayton Ohio is a non-profit service club providing support for worthy projects in the Miami Valley since 1917.

Vision:  Develop a strong, highly motivated group responding effectively to assist altruistic projects in the Miami Valley through financial support and service.

Values:  We are committed to provide altrustic service for the improvement of our community by attracting and maximizing the talents and participation of a diverse membership.  The high, ethical standards of Altrusa are maintained through an atmosphere of fellowship, cooperation, understanding and creativity.

Goals: 

  • Encourage membership involvement in hands-on projects.
  • Enhance fund raising activities to support current service objectives.
  • Recruit quality individuals and strengthen diversity to enhance membership.
  • Provide intellectual stimulation for members.
  • Increase visibility to promote Altrusa International, Inc. of Dayton, Ohio
  • Foster fellowship, friendship and fun among members.  

Objectives:

1.       Perform service projects centering on literacy, patriotism and meeting community needs. Recent literacy projects:  Adopt-A-Kindergarten Early Literacy Project for Cleveland PreK-6 School, Financial Contribution to Summer Bookbag Project for Louise Troy PreK-8 School, Magazine Grant for K.I.N.D.; Donations of Books to Dayton Children's Hospital Sleep LabRuth Richardson Scholarship Awards to worthy college students.  Recent patriotic projects:  Mini-collections for Blue Star Mothers, Contribution and participation in Bob Chiles' Golf Tournament fundraiser for Wright Patt Air Force Base.  Recent community needs service projects:  Widows' Home (Valentine's Day Party, Bingo Nights, Mother's Day Flowers, Cleaning Garden, Birthday Cards), Dayton Christian Center(Christmas Party for children and parents, Cleaning Garden for children's planting projects; Grants to Center), Cleveland PreK-8 School (Donations: K-1 Teacher Read-aloud Library, Back to School Supplies, Trunk or Treat Candy; 3rd Grade Tutoring).

2.       Fundraise to support club projects and community outreach.  Our major fundraising event is our annual Auction held the first Saturday in November.

3.       Actively recruit members and retain current members through service, fellowship, communication in varied media and programs/events which entertain and inform.

4.       Conduct regular meetings of Foundation Board, Board of Directors, Business and Committees in an efficient and friendly manner to involve and inform members in decision making.

5.       Communicate our mission, service and history to the Miami Valley Community and throughout the Altrusa International Community through personal involvement, attendance at events, and social media. 

6.       Provide opportunities for member growth, leadership, friendship, and support.
